Tilt vs. Non-Tilt questions....
Looking @ swapping my column. I have the manual column right now and bought a non-tilt column to replace it with. Currently using a B&M to shift also have 700r4 tranny. My non-tilt column needs cleaned up, paint and what not.
Looking at pics of the van and truck tilts I see the bottom of the column has no shifter dogs/stops like my non-tilt has. Are the tilt column dogs/stops internall in the housing? or do they just use the tranny detents to keep it in place? My brother has a line on a van tilt and I thought about using it. Also thought about using my non-tilt and modifying it for further travel for the 700r4 detents. Is this necessary or should I just bolt either in and adjust for fit/shift?? John

You'll need to get details...maybe a search, but some one said something about moving the pivot point for the shift lever on the tranny and being able to get all gears on an OD set up.

The dogs are internal. When you install the tilt, it will still shift properly, that is, it will still have detents.

Yep, it's right off the shift lever. Just so happens I have my van tilt apart for detailing. Here's a pic...

Thanks,
It looks like with a little die grinder work I could get some more movement for the 700r4 throw needed. My brother scraps old cars on the side and he is on the look out for a van tilt for me. John
