No High Beam Headlights

When I click my "brights on" my headlights turn off. I replaced my dimmer switch, but that did not fix it. I had just replaced my alternator, but the problem existed just prior to the replacement too.

What could it be?

Thanks

2 suggestions:

Clean connectors on both harness and headlight bulbs and/or fiddle with them.

Replace your headlights.

Admittedly having the same sympton on both sides at the same time seems rather odd but it's worth a shot.

Don't take this wrong, but it is possible that both hi-beams of your headlamps are burned out. I have seen it before here at work. Check the power at the headlamp bulb connector and see if it has voltage when on high.

I always try the simplest solutions first if unsure. You would be surprised how often it is just that! Great advise MR. Stock ( aka Jeff )!

Thanks for the suggestions. All worked well until my alternator went out. Maybe it did blow the high beam elements. I will check it out.

Pull the plug on the dimmer switch and look in the harness plug for dirt corrosion or melted wires.
That's all I have to add to whats already been said.
