Fire wall holes question
my k5 has a stock heater setup(no air). Facing the firewall, there are two, appx 1" in diameter holes just above the heater unit. What would these be for?Air/heater unit? I thought the PO mentioned that truck had air at one time, but the dash is not an air dash. Would a dealer installed air not need a air dash?
thanks, jakeslim |

My C/10 had a dealer installed underdash unit in it that I took out, and had a couple hoses running through above the heater box. A friend of my dad's welded them up for me.

I don't know if Blazers and trucks used the same system, but they probably did.
On mine, the passenger side kick panel vent door was removed, and the system was sealed to and drew air in through that opening. Mine wasn't hooked up, no compressor, just the two hoses running through the firewall from the unit to the condensor on the inner fender. The blower motor still worked when I took it off. For heat, you just used the stock heater assembly. I can get some pics for you tomorrow if you'd like, I have the whole thing stuffed in the back of my shed.

Gotcha some pics finally. I didn't know it was buried that deep in the shed, lol. Note to self: don't wear flipflops in a disorganized shed where a spare tire carrier can fall from the top shelf on your toes.
The center vents are broken up, the seal to the kick panel vent is gone (PO used an old shirt to seal it up), and it is very dusty as you can see (New Mexico truck), but as far as I know it is mostly intact and last time it was in the truck the blower motor worked.

My '69 has the same holes too but its not an A/C truck either? I've been passively looking for some plugs.
