Please help newbie with value of 21,315 mile SWB
My father-in-law is wanting to sale his fathers '87 SWB 4x4 and we are trying to determine its value.
Several of the guys on the Team Chevelle site suggested I post it here so you guys could take a look at it. Check it out at the site below. Its very clean and completely original except for the upper radiator hose. Thanks Dwayne http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/dwaynes69bb/PU.shtml Last edited by D Stroud; 11-19-2004 at 03:59 PM. Sorry I can't help on price. Most will probably tell you, "It's worth what someone is willing to pay." It is a very nice example of factory truck. It is the 2nd lowest milege 87 4x4 I know. Chevy Duty truck parts on the outskirts of Kansas City got a 1987 swb black silverado 4x4 with under 100 original miles on it. Like 89 or so??? Anyway, it is a very nice truck and it is something else to hang on to cherries like that. My 2 cents. Trevor

From the look of the other rides on your website your family owns way to many nice bowties to turn this one loose! I would think it would be hard to put a value on something with this low mileage. Go to ebay and look at completed auctions this should give you an idea of what it's worth. Another thing to consider, is the truck really "for sale" or is it just for sale if the right money came along. I couldn't part with one that nice that had always been in my family. Just my opinion.

According to the info in the blue book...
Low Retail $3,035 Average Retail $3,985 High Retail $4,735 That's according to my zip code, yours would probably show lower....generally things are cheaper more towards the east coast. But I would venture a guess if it were on a car lot it would bring more like $7-9,000

well maybe i have a different take. First i agree with the other guys. I'd keep it, but we are all truck guys & maybe your not. the truck is a bare bones truck with some damage. I know its not bad damage, but matching paint may be hard if the origonal paint has faded. Having said that i looked up a few on auto trader & heres what i found. 86 1 ton 4x4 22,000 orig miles mint 5500. 87 1/2 ton 4x4 short bed loaded 56,000 orig miles mint 6900. Everything else was either loaded, or had a 454, or crew cab. Personally myself, id probably go for the 1 ton, better running gear & brakes, for a good price. Your truck would have to be priced right there around 5 or 6 k for me to buy it.. I am a truck guy & know alot about these trucks. You may find someone that knows very little about the truck market that will get lost in the awe of the word origonal & pay 8 to 11 grand. I doubt it, but possible. I guess I'd start it around 9 grand. I know theres always someone that will say no way that thing is worth way more.. & like stated above, whatever someone is willing to pay is what its worth. I just tried to give you an idea of what i think its worth & why i think it.. good luck & let us know.. Todd.

Thanks for the replies fellows.
We have listed the truck on Ebay so I guess we'll see how she does. The truck does not belong to me or I would definatly keep her. My wife grandfather has recently move into an assisted living home and the assests needed to be sold. Thanks again. Dwayne
