K5 getting altitude adjustment in Dec (update 12/16)
and I am not talking driving to Colorado.
I am not going to kid you- it is just a cruiser with moderate offroading. I think it is going to look sharp. However, since I am patient and have 2 young children, and since the holidays are coming up, I will have little to no time to do this work in Dec. here's the new shoes-

Nice looking wheels...I haven't made up my mind on the tires yet....I do wonder how they will last.

It is an all terrain, supposedly not very good in mud, decent in sand, good highway manners, and awesome tread wear. Guys are reporting 40K miles with the set, and based on my 5k miles a year driving at MOST, that is long enough!

Do yourself a favor and get the 4:56's. I am still running 3:73's and it is a flat out pig. 4:56's will not be over-kill, it is what you need.

Shoot, I forgot the TH350 had a lower 1st gear ratio then a 700R4... It is 2.52:1 vs. 3.06:1 for the 700R4.
I guess I will have to drive it and see. I am sure 2nd and Drive wouldn't be too bad, since that puts the engine in a good part of it's power/torque curves anyways, but 1st is in question.

It will be slow off the line and it will not be in the power band a cruising speed. I can get up to 75 mph but there is no power at all when you are there. See for your self. Oh, post pics too!

I like those wheels. Sounds like you worked the deals on your lift! Can't wait to see it all on there.
Consider upgrading to 4.10's if you don't go with the 4.56's. My first Blazer had 3.73's with 35's and it was a dog compaired to my '69 with 4.10's on 35's (both 350/TH350 combos). My '72 has 3.07's on the stock tires and it is a little too high of gearing too.

LUV - I doubt I'll do any off-roading in my '72 either. Stock 350, stock TH350, stock 3.07's, stock tires, etc. I guess I shouldn't plan on getting in any street races with you.

i was thinking about those tires for my '85 but the mixed reviews are concerning me...i want to have decent offroad ability, mostly on road driving though...they do look pretty sweet

Since I am between trucks right now, and the K5 is down I had quite a quandry... How to get 38s home from work.
I figured it out... Who says these imports aren't good for anything?

Aiet, pics on the 38s.
Before you ask, yes I have 6" springs and 2" rear blocks waiting to go on, and no I can't drive it without some fender trimming (which I am not going to do). I am VERY happy with how it is turning out. Good stance, good tire and wheel selection, man oh man I can't wait to drive it again!
