Things to look for before buying a '85 Blazer

Tomorrow I'm going to look at a '85 Blazer that is for sale. I don't know much about these trucks so I was hoping you all could tell me some things to look for.

I know that it's a 3spd AT, 4x4, Dana 60 rear, Dana 44 front, rebuilt 350, and it says '3/4 ton running works', whatever that means.

Look at

I always look at the rear cross brace of the bed floor and the area where the front seatbelts mount on the sides of the body near the floor .

I would also look at the underside where the seats bolt through the floor. Blazers have a tendency to crack at the bolt holes and start rusting.

Check the frame at the steering box for cracks. Sounds like the truck has been highly modified...

And the price seems too good to be true, Would you really expect that truck to be $1,800? I've seen stock K5 Blazers for double that price, and even more.... But there are times where you get lucky and come across a really good deal. I'm going to check it out anyway. Only bad things they said about it when I called was it wasn't clean and didn't get good gas mileage.

useRc10 - It's way out in Midlothian 30 miles away. I doubt you wanna go that far.

I know what you mean. I lucked into the 86 K10 I have. Bought it from a buddy for $1200. The truck needed to be cleaned and could use a tune up, but it only had 86,000 miles on it...

I guess I'll never get any luck. They said that I could come by tonight after work and look at the truck, I get there and they weren't there. So I leave and go get something to eat and drive around some and go back and they still weren't there. I called them and left a message but they haven't returned my call. Either they sold it to someone last night or earlier today or something happened and they couldn't be home. Either way it kinda pissed me off to drive 60 miles and having to deal with all that traffic on 95 and Midlothian turnpike for nothing

keep looking and arrange the loan if you need one...when i was looking for my Blazer, i found that they sell fast...i saw one on 360 one day, stopped and looked, called the next morning and it had been sold after being there for like 2 days...i dont know if its still there, but there was one in downtown mechanicsville, next to the gun shop...check on that one

I think I've seen the one by the gun shop, but it looked too nice lol. I can only afford something under $2000. I can't get a loan because I get paid under the table so to speak.

I picked up the trading post and seen about 8 in my price range that seem decent. I'm gonna call them tomorrow. A couple of them are here in Mechanicsville
