Funny, they can make complete fiberglass bodys for trucks...but the company that was doin the 69 camaro was shut down by GM from what I hear.
I could use a lighter rear end Peregrine...maybe my seatbelt would fit better then. ![]() |

hehe. The crate Camaro thing got shut down? I hadn't heard. That's horrible! I might not be able to sleep tonight. And that's the thing about our trucks, they are "underground" I doubt Chevy gives a rats ass about a half ton truck, they aren't mainstream.

Yup, that's what the Camaro guy at work told me. He is restoring a 69 Z28...a real one, 302, 4 speed, gonna be a kickin car.
i asked him what he thought about the crate car, and he said they were already shut down. All GM will let them build (in one piece) is complete floor pans. I dunno what I think about that one as of yet...i didn't like the idea of fake camaros...but then again, a crate camao is a pretty cool idea. However, if you could afford to buy a crate body, you could definately afford to repair an old one and have the real thing.... |

I thought it was a bad idea to at first. Then I read the Hot Rod story and it made sense. You can do things to fake bodies that you wouldn't even think of doing on a real one. Don't hack up the real bodies. If you want to do crazy **** to a camaro buy a crate and have fun and keep the real body in storage.

I have the tilt front end w/cowl hood. I'd love to have the cab also but it's too expensive for me.

i'm thinking of buying a fiberglass 4 inch cowl hood from www.up22.com prices are pretty cheap, but i'm not sure on the quality. anybody hear or know about them? i think the big cowl hood would go good with the 472 caddy motor i'm putting in.

I think that the fiberglass components would be great if u can afford them. These trucks are terribly heavy compared to cars, and yea, it would probably be cheaper to just put in a bigger motor, but I think a really lightweight 67-72 chev sounds really cool. I wonder what kinda weight loss you could expect with a totally fiberglass truck?? anyone know?

I think that site is GREAT minus the prices. One nice thing about fiberglass is that it doesnt dent like metal so here in TX its hail is really the only weather concern we have but about twice a year you better hope you have your vehicle covered or your looking at about a grand in dent removal.

Sure, the strip down race ready cars were pretty light (if you call 3500 light) but the ones on the street were normally pushing 4000 pounds. |

I was just looking at the site the other day. I didn't notice front fenders, just the whole front end. Did anyone see bolt on front fenders? I did see the inners.

To be competive these days you need about 500-600rwhp and weigh around 3200lbs. At least around here.
