Nice touch. Ok, you gotta tell me how you did the front rollpan/bumper. I've got a 69 GMC and I've been looking at the options for the front, but yours is the first I've ever seen with a bumper/rollpan combo.

Looks pretty mean! That is a truck that won't need paint- Just a flat black primer and some meats.

The "roll pans" are actually factory smooth bumpers cut and welded in place The rear is off about a late 70 something of my father in-law. It had to have the ends cut off to fit between the bed sides and the top edge removed all the way across and bent over to clear the tailgate. It was welded to the bed sides and across the top. The tail lights are custom made. I swapped the original crome front bumper to my father in-law for a painted bumper. It also had to have the ends cut off the width of the fenders. BUT the frame rails had to be shortened aproximately 2 inches more/less for the bumper to be flush with the fenders. The bottom edge of the grill was removed to clear the bumper. I wanted everything possible to be smooth so I smoothed the grill to the bumper/roll pan and the bumper/rool pan to the fenders. The headlights are from a 79 caddy but the trim rings are the originals just slightly modified. They barely fit in the holes in the grill. The hood scoop is custom built from one piece of sheet metal and blended into the stock hood. I also added the disc brake rear end from the 79 caddy and a complete front suspension (also disc brakes) from a 79 C10 ( I HATED THE 6 LUG WHEELS!!!). It has the power windows and door locks from the 79 caddy but there was ALOT of mods there! I was going to put the 7.0 L 425 engine from the caddy but it wasn't very healthy and I had a good 350 chevy ready so I stayed with the 350. I am still working on it every day I can still got a long way to go but hopefully by next summer it will have a paint job! By the way it actually was flat black until a few months ago when I started all the mods on the front and decided to go with gray so I could "watch" the progress as I got finished with it. I'll post some more pix later on. I've seen some really sharp trucks on here. I know that you can put alot of time in one because I have actually been working on this one for about a year and a half. I HAD to start driving it 2 weeks ago after the floors in my 79 camaro kinda were rotted completely out.

I just wanted it to be as different as I could get it. I can't stand to have a vehicle that looks like someone elses. I've seen several GMC's around here so I started "Morphing" it into something different. I want to change the center part of the grill, I don't like the "openess" of it and being able to see the radiator, etc. I have thought about cutting the center out and installing a tube grill but I'm undecided. It will be easy to mask off when I paint it because the only parts to be covered are the door handles, windows, and head&tail lights (which will be removed). It's not a "show piece" but it's paid for, it's definitely different and already gets a few heads to turning.I can hardly wait till it's painted next summer.
