73 or 79 Engine?

The casting # is V307TJA. So it's either:

1. 1973 350 conv.cab
2. 1979 350 frwd cab. a/t L LS9

I can't see the number on the back of the block to confirm the build year.

Anybody have any tips on how to determine which motor it is? It's in a 72 GMC that had points and I have switched it to HEI.

What is a conv.cab and a frwd cab?

Thanks!

Conventional cab and Forward cab. Conventional being a standard cab behind engine setup, forward cab being a cabover, basically. Probably a box truck, or a half-van or something.
Which side is the oil dipstick on?

what's the number on the block above the bellhousing, can you see that, or even a piece of it?
I'm leaning more towards the '73 myself...

What color is it? '79 motors were blue, '73s were orange.
