what are the differences in rad supports?
Hey all. I'm wondering about what the differences in radiator supports for our trucks - years vs. gmc/chey? i am in need of one for my 67gmc & i'm noticing that chevy is super common. thank you for your advice!

What does a GMC one look like? I'm pretty sure they are all the same on Chevys. I have a '67 and my grandpa has a '72, they look the same to me. Some had wider radiators than others and all you have to do is slide one of the supports over to the next set of holes in the rad. support.

The GMC rad supports have 4 headlight buckets, 2 on each side. All the Chevy's have two headlight buckets, one on each side.

67 and 68 Chevy headlight position and 69-72 are slightly different. Chris

HAHA, I TOTALLY READ THAT QUESTION WRONG!! I thought you meant the little metal brackets with the rubber that hold the radiator in!!! Ok, on a Chevy the 67-68 supports are a good bit different than the 69-72. Like zeeklu said the headlight mounting is different. Someone else posted how you could modifiy a chevy rad. support to fit a gmc as long as you have the gmc headlight buckets....anyone know where it is??

I dont know about 67-68's but the 69-72 Chev and GMC's are the same.

The 67-68 also have captive nuts along the bottom front for a stone guard. My 71 had a chevy core support w/ gmc buckets bolted on. All the holes for the wiring were there, no difference. I've since replaced it with a core support from my 72 C30 and used the gmc wiring harness, just had to cut off the extra headlight leads.

Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm |

I am going the other direction on my 67 Chevy. My 60k mile donor 67 GMC Custom is absolutely rust free original paint so I plan to take the core support and front clip from it. The headlight buckets that are tack welded on are the only difference when you lay them side by side. I plan to drill out the 12 spotwelds on each GMC bucket and remove them. The original Chevy head light mounts are all stamped in the support behind the dual GMC mount brackets.
