oil capacity in a 700r4??

i am installing a 700r4 and i was wondering how much oil i should put in if the transmission and converter were both dry. thanks,

dump one or two in the converter before bolting it all up, then pour 4 quarts in and start it up.
Put tranny in gear for a moment, then put back in park and check the level. Bring it to the bottom of the add line, maybe a tick lower, then drive it and bring it to operating temp...a couple miles should do...no hot rodding either. just normal driving.
Then check it again and bring it to the full line. I personally like keeping them a tick below full so that when you get the tranny real hot, it will only get to the full line instead of overfull, which will cause foam to form and that will take miles off the clutch packs and bearings and stuff.

While kwmech is right (many will varry for some reason) it is not a good idea to go dumping 2 gallons into the filler and then start it...nor is firing it up with no fluid.
