The rest of the GM photos

OK folks, finally got the website updated with all the images GM sent me last month. Here are the links to each of the four pages. You may also notice I re-arranged the "73-87 info" page. I hope you enjoy these.

assembly line

clay model

paint schemes

misc.

One more thing. For those of you who have sent money for the GM commercials...I am still playing the waiting game with AV, I hope to hear something soon. Stay tuned.

man those pics are great, i love the history of our trucks. Some of the assembly line pics appear to be 79 vintage based on the grill/headlight combos, and some others look to be newer that early 70s due to the blue motor paint.
My favorite is probably the drawing of the long step, God those things are ugly

Did you notice on that one that the bedsides are actually fleetside bedsides with the stepside fenders on top?

Take a look at these three images, and see if you can spot what GM ended up not implementing on the 73-87 model line.

tailgate handle, and 1 pc side hinged tailgate

rear door upper design, pilar between rear door opening and rear side glass

thank god the bed design change!

did i miss anything?

Yes, quite a few actually. There is at least one more thing for every picture you posted.

BTW - did you see the picture with all the bare frames? Are those 3/4 ton or 1 ton frames? I am not a 4by guy and have no clue.

There are quite a few photos in there OSHA wouldn't approve of. Notice how most of the assembly line workers aren't wearing goggles or hard hats?

That reminds me a bit of me, circa 1992. All that guy needs is a really long pony tail, and wearing shorts and a tank top.

You too? I had all that too. I would have been wearing a ball cap backwards with a "clean" cloth diaper hanging out the back instead of what ever he has on his head....

1st pic: bodyline and tail lights are lower than production trucks
2nd pic: no rain gutters (but I guess that would be correct for 73)
3rd pic: low front sidemarker, no rain gutters (but I guess that would be correct for 73)

I think that may be it.

To be honest, you guys found some I didn't even notice.

Sweet photos!

I've seen photos of Jeep's Toledo assembly line where my Jeep was made. Like these C/K photos, it's REALLY cool to see how they were made on the assembly line...

2nd and 3rd pic, front fender crease goes all the way to the bottom of the fender, vs. turning back towards the front fender well.

We did something similar to this on my Blazer. When you shave the molding off, it leaves you with a crease on the lower half of the fender to the wheel opening. We filled it in so the crease just plays out and the lower part of the front fender is smooth.

Great pics Jeff, thanks for your diligence in acquiring and posting these pics.
Greg.
