DANG! Another wonderful PO surprise... F&$^*$IN PO

It's really anytime I get into something, I find a 1/2 assed job.

Bad News- I keep finding stuff
Good News- I keep fixing it, and making it RIGHT; things are running out...

So, took the K5 to a good friend to get the front bumper mounts raised for the body lift. I already knew the rear axle was slightly off center, indicating a kingpin is worn or sheered. He pointed out that the front axle was also off a touch, and is probably in need of kingpins as well. No biggie... I am swapping springs and blocks soon. Unfortunately, we also discovered the passenger side of the frame up front by the spring mount is tweaked a bit. It's not major, but will need attention soon.

It's gonna need to go to a frame shop and be pushed straight, and then have a support welded in place. On terms of severity, I would say 4-5 out of 10. What do you guys think some minor frame work with some minor strengthening would cost?

A little surprise the PO made no mention about.

On a side note, I think I am getting pretty close to no more surprises here...

Does suck indeed. I doubt it will be cheap. Ya might consider a frame swap. It would be a good way to do a ground up resto.

Oh boy... I have thought about it fellas... I just got a referral to a well respected frame guy that specializes in trucks and dune buggies.

I would say if the cost goes over, say $400-500, that could be the catalyst for a new frame. Dang you Bouncytruck, now I have that idea in the back of my mind...

I want to delay my frame off if possible, because with 2 young kids and a busy job I just can't spare the time. It will end up in my garage for 5 years, and when I finish, it will be too nice to beat up. I like it in a slightly rough state... Is that weird? So if the kids accidentally scratch it up, or I kick a rock up I don't jump out of my skin...

Can't you just put that in a FedEx box and ship it here?

That's one reason I never cared about Vermont. It's too dang far away.

Damn, that frame does look nice. What are ya asking for it? Are you selling that whole package? i.e engine tranny, wheels etc.?

That pic is over a year old now, frame and suspension are still together but engine & tranny have been removed. Engine was put into my 71 blazer but I have another good crate 350 for sale. Tranny and t-case are sitting in my garage.

you could probably ship that frame accross the country for less than the $400-500.

What service do you think? I have freighted from New York to San Diego for $350 before, but that was wheels and tires, not a huge frame... Plus, I am sure VT Blazer will actually want money for the frame, so that would put my up a bit.

I forgot that VT might want some $ for the frame. That's a very excellent point. If you are considering it, talk to LUV. He shipped his Blazer (GQ) from CA to OK. He had to pay extra because of the height and all the extra parts.
