Best way to start is to check with your local state patrol inspection station, to see what the bumper height laws are. Then, if you can do a 6" with 35's, go for it! A buddy of mine had a '69 with a 4" and 35's, and it looked like it could use a bit more lift. But, it ain't worth spending the money and doing all the work if you're going to run afoul of the local gendarmes!
Oh, and yes, 4 or more inches of lift, and you should change the steering arm. [This message has been edited by '72 Cheyenne Super (edited February 12, 2002).]

something that kinda scares me(on my truck at least) my drag link ends are totally fubared, i eventually want to lift mine 8 inches and a dropped drag link would not be a bad idea, not sure if yours are okay but it seems like a worthy investment to me..

do some math and see about your driveshaft lengths and angles. make sure you driveshafts will be long enough with both lifts. lengthing can get expensive. i have seen front driveshafts hold up to the angle of a 6" lift, 8" may be pushing the capability of the CV/U-joint.

You need the steering arm with even a 4 inch lift. And with a 6 inch lift I have seen Lots of u-joints go bad because of pinion angles, make sure you get that fixed.
