I'm looking to buy these 18 x 8 wheels. They have a backspacing of 3-7/8. Are they going to work on my 70 Stepside?

Not sure about your style truck but most lowered trucks need at least 5" backspace for the wheel to tuck under the fenders.

Thanks I was afraid of that. Here's my truck now with the 15's on it and the rear's stick out about an inch. I have no clue what the backspacing is though.

An 8" rally wheel has 4" of backspace. Should be fine if an 8 inch rally will work. Just because the diameter is bigger,... doesn't change where the wheel sits on the truck. If you are going to bag your truck you might want more backspace. There are a lot of varibles. My 2 cents.

lolife99-I'm not going to bag it but I'm possibly going to lower it 3/5 or 4/6. Does that matter?

I've run 4 inch, 4.25 inch, 4.5 inch and 5 inch backspacing on all 4 corners of 4/6 dropped trucks. None of them interfered. The 4 inch backspacing wheels were somewhat close to the fender lips of the rear fenders with a wide 275/60 tire. A narrower tire would have cleared by a mile. Even though, none of the combinations rubbed anywhere.

Depends on the width on the rim. 7,8, or 9.5 wide? Your truck looks like it has 8" rims on the front and 10" rims on the back. The wheels are you are looking at need at least a 4 to 4.5 inch backspace. Drop it and then measure for rims.

I left out the important part, the wheels I'm talking about were all 8 inches wide.

Yes, these wheels are 8 inches wide. My rims now are 8 on the front and 10 on the back, just like you guessed lolife99. So you guys are saying they won't work or they will work.

I think they will rub on the fenders and bedsides when lowered.
