You at one time asked what a newer cruise would look like...this is from a 1975 set.

Cruise
Not to hijack this but how different it the 75 unit from a 71/72?
The fender bracket might be different(different curve of inner fender) and the short speedo cable would have a slip on end rather than a screw on end - but wouldn't the rest of the unit work just fine on a 71/72? Just asking?? Thanks - Bob

I was pointing out difference in the vacuum servo for bagged91.
You could make the 75 system work, or probably any other year around that era. But if you want correct servo and such...look at spending more money. Just letting him and everyone else the know the difference. Otherwise its like the 72 BB motor mount I watch sell on ebay last night for about 10 times what there worth..cause they were 73 up mounts. All that by a former board member currently banned. You think he would know the difference ..it's his business to know...I say he knew, and thats I have a few piece of a cruise system and could use more to complete it... but let bagged91 have his shot first.

70 402- Here are some pics of a '68-'70 setup. Not saying that yours isn't factory, but I've never seen one like it.

bagged- Here are some pics of the '71-'72 stuff that I have. Pic #5 is a carb bracket from a '77, but would probably work with the '71 cable. The vacuum switch bracket appears to be fabricated.

From what I can tell, here is what is missing, with the exception of the vacuum switch.

Cruise???
70 - 402 I'm not sure but the red paint on the brackets makes me think Buick. I think they used red on their motors back in the late 60's - this is just a guess.

Will the CC switch that's on the turn signal work with the OEM 71/2 setup?(the kind that LMC has in their catalog) Thanks guys for the pics & info. Now I'm a little less confused about it! HuggerCST, I'm sending you a PM on the stuff... The things I get myself into.... No wonder she thinks I'm nuts....

Rod - I was not suggesting they were identical but that they were compatible for use if one was not doing a "restoration".
70 - That is a different set-up than the ones I have found for my 67,s. I have a firewall mounted bracket with a plastic wheel to guide a chain attached to the throttle arm. I removed mine from a GMC at the local junk yard complete with wire harness, brake switch, additional tab for brake pedal(as shown in the factory assembly manual). The wiring harness included wires for an additional switch on the clutch pedal but this truck was an automatic. Sadly I did not know how rare the cruise/turn lever was and did not get it or it was MIA. A friend had a 71/72 Burb with factory cruise with the servo mounted down on the inner fender below the horn.

It's kinda amazing every time I post good stuff...info for all...it all of a sudden comes up on ebay. And the bidding wars go higher and higher. Look at 8 tracks and such now.
here is a refurbished cruise on ebay... I believe its 1970 version, with wrong lever. Buy it now is $375 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=34206

ChipFlyer..yours looks correct for 71-72 era except for the lever of signal. 71-72 Trucks never used that type....they were under dash type...and there
are 2 kinds of those... one is the one in the pic of my hand above. The other Ill try to post also. Rod I know you always have good info about the cruise posts but I am curious about the 71's. Could some have had the turn signal lever switch or is that not possible? The only reason I ask is because I have an original 71 owners manual and it doesn't show the under dash switch at all, in fact it shows how to use the turn signal lever type. Also my old 71 repair manual also shows the turn signal lever and doesn't mention the underdash switch. I'm not disagreeing with you about the 72's I have just never been completly sure about the 71's. Jeff

From what I have gathered in looking these things up..cruise became a dealer installed item in late 1970... to many problems with warranty being charged back to factory from what I interpret.
The parts books show this cruise button pictured here as 1970 after jobs and 71+ 72 cruise button. Part number 6465701 group 3.880 The chrome one is part number 6465627 same group 67-69 and 70 first jobs. Although I haven't seen a 67 truck with cruise on the glove box sheet even. Closest I have seen is 68 on the board who by the way sent me this pic of his 68 vacuum pod... so another version it seems. Da-burb sent me this pic of engine bay from a 71 suburban he had that had cruise also. I think it was listed on the glove box also. I can't remember what he wrote back many years ago. This took me over 8 years to gather up this kinda info..where else you gonna get it , but here. The black lever with cruise written on it will work but is from newer than our vintage trucks.
