windshield wiper arm removal?
How do you get the wiper arm off of the splined hub its attached to? I pulled a little clip out thinking that was it but it still won't budge, any ideas?

you just have to knock them off. my dad has a special tool that looks like a hook, you hook it under the arm then hit a flat spot on it with a hammer, and it slides off. I imagine you could get around that if you had to.

The factory Service Manual says to pull up on the wiper arm, hold it up with pressure, and then carefully pry off the arm's end from the splined shaft. It doesn't mention that you need to protect the paint on the cowl. Use a rubber mudflap piece cut around the shaft or a thick towel, rags, etc. It helps if you have a third hand (more for protecting the paint than pulling the arm off). Also, the more awkward the position, the more chance you will scratch paint. Leverage rules.

So is that what you call the peice under the windshield? Cowl? Funny I never knew that.

Corrosion and tension of the wiper arm spring can make them kinda sticky. I use a small thin pry bar. The kind finishing carpenters use: put a rag or something under the sharp bend in the pry-bar, and "gently" lift on the bottom of the wiper thing that slides onto the shaft. A claw hammer works too, but due to the extreme angle of the claws is harder to position than the pry bar, wich only has a 90 degree bend.

If you lift up the arm and wiggle it up and down it will come off!
