Junkyard Parts - 1 ton 4:10 Rearend? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I was scrounging around a junkyard north of Seattle. There was a 72 which must have been a 3/4 or one ton. Rearend looked like a full floater though I really don't absolutely know what one looks like. It was 8 lug and had 8 axle bolts holding the axle on the outside. Option list said rearleaf suspension, no mention of 4:10 but someone wrote 4:10 on the side of the truck. Also had an aftermarket rearsliding window. There was another truck with a rearslider also.

Yup,that's a full floater. The truck could of been either a 3/4 or a ton. They both used that axel. It probably was a 4:10 ratio, that's what my 72 3/4 has in it...

it is a 3/4 ton. The one ton wouldn't have the leafs as an option since there were no coil equipped one ton trucks.
Do you remember what engine/tranny combo it listed by chance?

It was a 350 and automatic. Engine and transmission were gone. It looks like someone used it for a camper, had 8,000 GVW written on the side. Dennis, wood bed was gone but the tail gate looked decent. It was straight on the inside, a couple of dents on the outside. Tough to tell on the rust though. They had 3 or 4 trucks, one blazer. Only one bucket in the blazer and I am not sure it went with the year. A couple of decent looking front fenders, most of the doors were cut for speakers. Decent foam in one seat, had the original parchment cover that wasn't in bad shape. They also had a 72 1.5 ton (at least that is what I think it is). The 72 two wheel drive blazer was gone. Front and rear bumper brackets looked good on the blazer (chrome bumpers) which are often hard to find in decent shape.

350/auto..then it should indeed be a 4.10 gear.
