Military blazer market
i was wondering what kind of market there is for military blazers? I heard they go for a bit more than a standard undrafted version.
Are there very many people out there that are interested in buying one of these things? the reason why i ask is i have the chance to get one and i want to know what these in good shape typically go for.

They do go for alot for what they are.Unless you want it because it`s military or want a good diesel Blazer,I`d get a civvy model.They are not that special other than the diesel and TH400.You don`t get much else:3.08 ratio/open diff.no guages,bare steel floor/no sound-proofing.The electrical system is 24v.No radio,a/c,manual everything.You get a grill-guard and cool black-out lights in the bumpers,along with d-rings front and back.They are mostly`86s,but there are `84 &`85s.A nice one goes for $4,500-8,000.The body`s condition varies by region used in.

just an FYI, I believe most if not all had a gov-lock 3.08 rear, not open

I'm sure that if you decided to sell you would draw some interest if the price was right. If I were you though I wouldn't take that approach about buying it if you were able to sell it later. You might really like it and decide not to sell it. It happens all the time, trust me. Buy it as if you were really interested in it. If you're not that interested in it I wouldn't suggest buying it because you don't know if you are gonna get what you paid for it when you decide to re-sell. Unless you're getting a heck of a deal of course.

Check out www.steelsoldiers.com for lots and lots of info on the M1009's. I bought mine a couple months ago and love it. It's a hoss and is in great shape. I bought it for an unheard of low price too. I drive it daily an have clocked almost 4K miles in less than two months averaging 23mpg with a best of 25 so far.

There is definately a resale market on these.They are a military vehicle you can afford and is still useable as a daily driver.And,it is hard to find a Civvy diesel Blazer.They are very economical,without a counterpart from Ford or Dodge.I have an`86 w/45,000miles.Didn`t know I had a Gov-lock.Haven`t tryed it off road enough to notice.Makes sense.

the m1009 is the only CUCV that has a "locking" diff as opposed to a "no-spin" diff... via the operators manual.

i have had a chance to drive a bunch of cucv's since ive been at ft hood. i have loved every minute that i get in them. we went out at blora (belton lake recreation area) and were working with the civilans there setting up the displays for christmas. we were on the night shift and any time the bosses were looking the other way we were hill climing or bogging. they only had retired run down cucv's but they still did great off road. if i get the chance to ill probably get one. but thats just a personal opinion thing. if you see yourself driving one, then get it. if you see yourself selling withing a year or two, then keep looking.
