question for short66sickfleet
I would like to know if you have any pics of your front clip that you welded in. I have been fairly unsuccessful in finding good pics of this mod on the net. We are in the tear down part of the wife 58 short fleet GMC and it already has a Nova clip welded in. You can see pics of it in the ugly IFS post I made further down the page. Any info and/or pics you can provide would be very much appreciated

Wow!! thanks for the great pics!! Ours was done similar to that but the had the sub frame 6 " lower that yours so the truck sits at stock height. You front end is all stock and it sits that low?? sweeeeeeeeeeet!! It has a great stance!!
Here is a quick pick of our Nove clip that the previous owner welded in. Ya think this could be saved?

Yes, I am sure it could be saved with a little torching, and lots of grinding. LOOKs like who ever did the original clip most likely wasn't going for low! YES mine is stock, I did it all myself. Like the rest of the truck. Good luck I'm sure you can do it. let me know when it's done.

Yeah this job looks nice and clean eh. Would you happen to have some pics of how it's welded on the outside of the frame rails? I would like to know if you plated it the ful length of the Nova sub frame or only in a couple spots

Dubie, If that last post was for me sorry i hadn't seen it. As far as welding the outside of frame rails, I just welded the entire length of 58 frame to the top side of camaro clip. No plating needed, But i did add two small triangle plates ,as gussets. You can see one of them in the pic, right in front of the cab mount. Oh, and i run a 350 w/ 350 tranny. No floor cutting at all! Rock on with the tear down,it's what must be done....

Dubie if you use a Monte Carlo you can slide the 55 frame right into it and brace it and make it look like it was original. You can barely tell its been clip. Plus the track width is a little better in my opinion. I have done camaros and monte carlos and both are nice. They both ride really well but for looks I choose the monte carlo. The work is about the same. Thats why I chose a MII for this project easy as pie. I done the Monte Carlo on on my brothers 55 chevy panel and it was nice. He sold the panel and I still have not forgiven him.lol
