Window Regulator Roller Rivet Installation—How?

My driver's door window regulator won't roll up without binding, so I took it out to either repair or replace. One of the rivets holding the lower nylon roller in place was loose. I drilled it out and tried to install a new rivet and roller. I used a plumbing flaring tool to try to seat the new rivet, but a piece broke out of the new rivet long before it got tight. What is the proper way to seat these?

Sounds like the hole is oversized. The rivet body should be snug in the hole to start with. The rivet should just peen over as it is mild steel. If the hole is oversize, you will need an oversize rivet or another regulator. I don't believe sleeving the hole will work but it might be possible.

The hole was large compared to the new rivet. Since the old rivet was loose it must have slopped out the hole.

I can get another used regulator locally. I'll go this route, but check out the holes first
