Painted my column today. I couldn't find saddle paint, but was able to have to paint matched to the steering wheel. I also finished converting a truck door to a blazer door, finished patching both inner fenders and the passenger side fender patched.

did you sand it first? what brand of paint you use? does it matter?

just a ? was that a new truck door and if so why not buy a blazer door ? just wondering .Also how was the conversion prosses any dos or donts to share .

That was a door off of the parts truck I bought this summer. The primer was a just a first coat to use as a guide to check if my patches were high or low. The hinges on my blazer door were ripping out. It was just easier to make a door since I had one to use. The conversion was pretty simple since I had a "go by". All I used was an angle die grinder with a metal cut off wheel.

Sanded all the metal parts to bare metal, primed, and used Dupont acrylic enamel. The two plastic pieces I just roughed up with some 320 grit, primed, and sprayed with the acrylic enamel. The shifter piece is 'pot' metal so I used rattle can filler primer and spot-n-glaze putty to smooth it up.

I just converted a truck door to a blazer door too not 4 days ago,,,, all I used was a angle grinder. did you transfer over the rubber window slider with block off. the trucks didn't have those or the top plastic piece that you have to drill 2 holes for and shave a side at an angle to get it to fit... rock on.

yep. transfered the measurement using measurment calipers.
