I'm about to convert my manual steering on my 71' to Power and was curious if I have to modify the shaft on the end of the steering column in any way.

No, the intermediate shaft is the same. Assuming your're going with a stock bolt-on truck ps box

Not sure about the '71, but our '69 manual rag joint wouldn't fit the input shaft on the PS gearbox. Suggest you grab the rag joint, too.
