How big a tire can i run with 8 inches of lift in this vintage of truck?? thanks

i've seen 38's on nice trucks, and i've seen 39's on beat up fenders trucks..

I guess depends what you plane to do with it..
daily driving i would go with 38's. probably 38x 12.50's

Perfect tire for 8" lift- 37x12.50 Goodyear MT/R! I love those tires... You can do a wide 35-36 on a 12-14" wide wheel or a more narrow 37 or 38 on a 10" wide wheel. Depends on how you want it to look and how functional you want it to be.

i have a 39-15/16.5 on my 72 K20 with an 8 inch all spring lift. not on the road right now but i never had it rub when it was, and i flexed it out a few times. the 8 inch spings are pretty stiff so alot of the flex is frame flex. ill see if i can scrape a picture up later

there it is, it has no engine in these pics, but i had a 454 setting in it before with little change in clearance. had a 350 deisel

in it to and no problems there. FYI i am looking to sell the tires

I would say some 38" x 14.50" or 15" maybe if you got the right rim set-up, probably 39" but you probably would have some fender problems. Depends on how much of a daily driver or street driven truck you want.

I have 35 x 12.5 x 15's on a 4/6 lift, no issues at all, I'd say up to 39" high
would be ok, width is where you need 2 be careful, especially w/ wide rims

Ponts wheels are really wide and do rub on the front fender cups.. With a narroe wheel the would not rub.. Luv it sure looks like those bfgs are gonna rub in the front on full lock turns into driveway's..

hey i just installed 8" springs on my 72 K20 and put 355/70R17 toyos on 10" wide wheels and they fit perfectly no rub at all (tire size= 37/14 approx) i think it fills up the wheel wells just right hope this helps.

ponts wheels rub because of his backspacing i think. alexis has fit 40s with 8" lift.

Here is 9 inches on true 38's x 15.50. They do rub on medium level flexing. Run 8 inches at your own risk.

have any of you guys with 8 inches of suspension lift had any trouble with front driveshaft angles or having to use specialty drive shafts,also how about steering with this much lift? is crossover a must? thanks in advance for the help.

I have a steering block and a drop drag link on mine, and the steering is ****ty. uncentered and some noticable bumpsteer. i strongly recommend crossover. i had no problems with driveline angle, and i am running a dana 60 which has a 2" longer pinion. no specialty drivelines needed, just went to the driveshaft shop and told them the length.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
