Hello,
I just found this place today and wow what a great resource! I can’t believe how many 67 – 72 gearheads are on line out here! As I mentioned in the title I am in need of a set of big block mounts, the ones that actually bolt to the frame. I am putting a 454 in my 2wd 72 blazer, with headers so I don’t think I need the specific 72 ones do I? Any replies to this will be greatly appreciated. I have the 3 bolt style mount that bolts to the block. I am trying to figure out how to post a picture as well. Thanks

Of course either style will work just fine...but, I recommend 72 MMs for your application. They may be a little stronger for that 454 and they are a little more correct for your 72.
Be sure you get the complete set with the engine brackets/cups on the 72 style.
I have both styles.

Thanks to everyone who has replied to my post. Before I buy a set does anyone here know if the 68-71 styles will work in my 72 frame, yes I know they will work but I will be running headers, so the least mount of clearance issues the better. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks again.

PICKMUP. Thanks for the pictures, are the top ones for a 72, and the bottoms for a 68 - 71?

Hopefully the picture will attach correctly, it shows it almost fitting with small block mounts.

The top pictures are the 72's bottom are 71 and down. I am not absolutely positive on this, but I think that all BBC mounts will get you the same clearance regardless of the year. 72's are a better design and a little stronger in my opinion, a little me pricey too. From what I have learned you cannot run SBC mounts at all with a BBC...no clearance for any header or exhaust manifold. I never heard anything about clearance differences between 72 and other year BBC mounts.

The only problem with the 68-71 is the cost of the new rubber MMs. They are a good strong setup, but $$$$. The metal towers are more common, but used rubber MMs are not a good idea.
The ones in the bottom pic are complete with the new (4) rubber MMs & the towers. They cost more than the 72s because of the new parts.
I can sell them to you either way, if you need them.
