72 Front Sway Bar Bushing question
I am attempting to use the rubber front sway bar bushings from PST on my 72 C10 2wd setup.
The factory bushings I pulled off were all the same shape/size with a split. The 'direct replacements' from PST have two that look like the original four (those go on the brackets that attach to the frame). The other two have taller sides and no split. Problem is, the taller bushings do not allow the bracket to go over enough to mount properly to the lower control arm. I've attached some pics, it shows the larger and smaller bushing included in the PST kit. PST tells me these work, I'm telling them they don't. Any insight?? I'm considering going with GM bushings if they are still available. *EDIT: Looks like the GM bushings are discountinued. Thanks. Joe

the insides are the same and once you get them tightened down they will work...

That's just it, the bracket will not go over the taller bushings enough. I've even filed down the inside of one of them and no luck.
If I use longer bolts and clamp it down, it distorts the bushing.... Can't I just use two inner bushings on the ends like the factory did? |
