need measurements of radio delete plate

none of my heater crap works nor do i need it here in CA, i was thinking bout turning the spot where the heater control goes into a pull out cup holder. what are the measurements of a radio delete plate? im wondering if it will fit over that hole or not, im thinking itll be a bit too tall and a bit short in width.

Delete plate is 8" x 2 1/2 ". Looks to be a perfect fit on my '68.
