71-72 Disc Brakes Tailgate Decal ?

I bought some NOS parts yesterday and the guy gave me this decal. He said he got it from the dealer and that it was factory for a 71-72 Chevy truck. I have never seen one on a truck before. Does anyone know of this decal and where it goes.

Thanks, Scott

71 only if I'm not mistaken...it goes on the tailgate.
I know some one should have a pic.

I have never seen/heard of such a thing. But I have a 71 and I'm very interested in learning more about it.

I believe it is a 71 only thing and goes in the upper left hand corner of the gate. I think joesjunk has a nice 71 gate with it still on there. Maybe he would show us.

Yep, came stock factory on original '71 tailgates. Disc brakes being standard items on a truck back then was a selling point for GM trucks. Have my original 'gate with the decal still on it but rather faded. When I put the smooth faced 'gate on the truck picked up a repop decal and put it on just for grins.

Well, since I have a 72, I guess it's for sale. I have no idea what this is worth. I do know it's in great shape and is NOS. Been thinkin for 10 minutes about a price and no luck, so it's free. Hey wannabeburbowner if you want it send me your address and I send it to ya.

Its on mine too

I came in a little late, but thought I would mention that it is on my 71 Custom 10 lwb fleetside also, and it was built in 7-71 which puts it at the tail end of the model year. I understand it like everyone else has mentioned, it was the first year that GM offered disk brakes as standard equipment on there light duty truck line and used it as a promotion. It also made 71 and 72 trucks easier to differentiate back when they were newer as the 72's didnt get em. Here is a question for you guys though. Did 71 GMC's get em also? I own the 548th 72 GMC built at Janesville, WI in early August 71 and it did not.

Seen these dedcals in a number of catalogs. My 71 C20 had this sticker on upper left hand side of the tailgate. No picture, sorry...that was my first vehicle. Sold it in 1989.
