Hi all,

I am still a bit new here, but I have noticed a couple of threads referring to "true" shortbox trucks. Once I have my Blazer running again, I plan on going full tilt into a 67 or 68 short stepside.

Am I correct in assuming that there are short wheelbase trucks made from longs? I was wondering about this because it would seem to me that there would be a lot of work involved....shortening the frame, no?

Could someone explain the long and short of this?

yes there are some people who do shorten the frames of a longbed truck, i might consider doing one of these myself but i would never buy one unless i helped do the work on it or i personally saw the truck built up by proffessionals reason being you could have some redneck bubba that likes to play with his harbor freight wire welder and your truck could possibly come apart on you, i would say that if you want a shortbed that bad just wait patiently and you will find one they are out there you just have to search

I hear ya on the frame safety KT. Not only that, I think it would be a lot less work to find and pay for a shorty and concentrate on a rebuild then to do all the work involved in shortening a long box one. It seems to me that it would be a 1/2 ton of work (pun intended) to do the frame right.

What really bugs me is that I have owned and sold two shortboxes among all the trucks I have owned, and NOW the wife sees a pic of a nice yellow lowered one, and says she LOVES it. You can't ask for a better excuse to build a truck!

My wife hates my truck, but sees some potential in the blazer (she likes the idea of a 4x4 convertible).
