Should I do any thing to my transmission?
I am rebuilding my motor well not me exactly I get drunk to much so I'll have some one else do it cause the last time I rebuilt a small block had to be about 1991 and I was drunk of my ass, so anyway the carb was "close" (in my words) the timing was messed up so again "close", I'll never rebuild a small block unless I'm in an beerless area and that's no where I want to be but it was fun, so I want everything to be accurate this time. So what I was wondering is should I do anything to the trans??? a shift kit something along those lines???

shift kits arent a bad idea even in bone stock applications they will help get rid of any slippage between shifts which will make the transmission last longer

Definately go with the shift kit. I don't recommend putting it in after a few drinks. The results could be interesting but I don't think you'd be happy.

Well I was not rebuilding a motor for one of these trucks first of all, it was a very hot small block that I was putting in a 57' Chevy Bel Air so I was really just putting the motor in and setting it up to run correctly, I was on Vacation in North Carolina and you know how it is you wanna lax so I figured who cares and I had a few, I set the carb a little to lean and the motor woulde'nt run good but who knows if it did or not this small block was very hot I think it had like 480 horses (which I found out later) and you know they are just miserable until they get up there on the RPM's, so I guess I made it sound a little worse than it REALLY was, so I really don't drink a lot any more I was pretty young and stupid, I had just married about 4 years before I did that motor and I was like 36 years old, I usually don't drink as much now at 50 years old with a family. But I do work, I work at UPS in Chicago (I work on trucks!! belive it or not) it is a pretty far drive at 4:30 in the morning, I come home I have a few maybe 2-3 cans of beer NOT nearly as much as I used to drink like 6-7 every night!!. I guess that my previous post did sound like I was a very heavy drinker which I was way back when, but now with a wife and kid I have toned it down alot and I just don't want to rebuild another one of these 350's and even with alot of help from my son I would rather just have this guy who is an anoying drag racer who won't let me get a word in when I talk to him, rebuild my motor and like this if it is messed up I can go back to him and say what's wrong and he'll fix it.....
