rearend swap

I would like to change the rearend in my 70 3/4t truck. It currently has an Eaton that only allows me 4.11 and 4.56.

I was wondering, would a rearend from a 60-66 3/4t work? I know that trailing arms and whatnot all look the same. I had a 65 1/2t at one time and it had a Spicer rear in it. While I am unsure of the ratio it had, it was lots better for the highway.

I know where there is a yard that has several 60-66 trucks, but unsure if any are 3/4t. But if I knew it would just bolt in I would be very interested in getting this done.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chad

the 60-66 3/4 ton Chevies used the Eaton, too.

are you staying 8 lug, or going 5?

I will be staying 8 lug.

Didn't they have a Dana rear? Are there other ratio options with it?

Yep they had a Dana too...I got one ...with 3.54 ratio..but it will weigh 300 plus pounds probably to ship.

The Dana came with 4.10 or 4.56 also. I got a 4.10 too...with maximum traction posi option too.

You might be best off finding something closer...I cant even get to my supply till snow melts some here.

I knew some 60-66 GMC's had the D60, but I didn't know about Chevy. 68-72 Chevy BB 3/4 ton trucks will have a 3.54 D60 unless otherwise optioned.
