84 K 30 Dually Axles
I was going to convert my 68 to a dually but to many projects & not enough time. These are 84 4x4 K 30 Dually axles with 89,000 miles on them. I do not know the gear ratios but will check if you are serious about them. I bought these 2 years ago and am cleaning the garage.

I'm not positive but I believe the first pic is of a D44 single wheel front axle not a 1ton dually D60. If I'm wrong then this is a really good deal on these axles. Wish I was close enough to see them in person.

I will have to check for a 44 or a 60 on the front. All I can tell you for sure right now is I pulled these myself from a running, driving 84 dually. Thanks for the replies.

Dodge did, but dont think they used that style backing plate either. Also...it is no a dually front...it may have been pulled from one...but it does not have dually hubs |

here's another question to identify it as a 10 bolt/Dana 44 or a Dana 60. on the center section, are there 2 holes tapped just to the inside of the spring perch? 10 bolts and Dana 44s use 4 ubolts to attach them to the springs, a Dana 60 will use 3 ubolts and 2 bolts threaded into the housing. how many bolts are holing the steering arm on?

that first pic sucks, but it looks like it has castle nuts on top of the knuckles, too...another vote for a D44/10b.

After viewing these pics some more, my guess would be that someone had already swapped out the 84 dually running gear with older axles. Chevy quit with the D44 in the 70s and that doesn't look like my 14bolt.

Sorry I could not reply yesterday. I could not get on the board for some reason. Sorry about the poor resolution on the pictures, but you have to make the files so small to fit. Let me try to reply to your questions.
Trevor, I could not find a 60 or a 44, but need to clean them to really check 1FaastC10 - It does not have tapped holes near spring perches, and it has 3 bolts on the top of the steering arm. Another thing is it has a steel plate for a diff cover versus a tin one?? It looked like it was correct dually width when I took it out from under the truck, but the guy I got them from was not the original owner either. If it is not a 60 then it must mean it is less desirable?? In your guys opinion what are they worth, I really just want these out of my garage. My creeper keeps hanging up on them

Sorry man. I wish it was a D60 for you. Anyway its a D44 and the set (as long as they're matching ratios) is still worth $400 to $500 IMO. Its just that a D60 is worth $800 to $1200 (thats why I'll never have one).

so you got a set of 3/4 ton axles looks like. the Front axle isn't worth too much. I would imagine you can get 300 bucks for them at most.

what is the wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface measurement on each? if that's a D70 rear axle, it will be significantly wider than the front. did it have dually wheels on the front axle when you got it? if it had single wheels, on that D44 or 10 bolt, whichever it is, it wont look out of place at all, except the wheels.

yeah, I think the D70HD axles are in the neighborhood of 75" wms-wms.
my guess is someone swapped the 60 out for a 44/10b. seems to be a common practice with 60's going for more and more $$ these days.

Finally had a minute to measure the actual WMS of these axles.
Front looked to be about 69.5 inches.... Rear looked to be about 64.5 inches.... Thanks for the replies.... Anyone interested?? I really just want these gone..... Somebody make me an offer.... Thanks

Read and re read this post were the wheels on front single style wheels or bud style (dually) wheels like the rear diff would've had on it ? Been trying to figure out a way to run buds on a 10 bolt 44 and will be honest and say I am not to knowledgeable on the topic what I have is a 3/4 ton truck with a dually rear end out of a 1ton and a matching gear ratio 44 out of a 3/4 ton up front I only want to have to carry one spare and have been told many different things as far as running the buds on the 44 from "it's easy to not a possibility " maybe we can shed some light on the topic and sell your axles at the same time thanks and let me know I would be interested if I can run my 16 inch buds up front thanks Mike

Post don`t look muddy to me.Gotta iron-out what he`s got before anyone`s gonna buy`um.Kinda opened a discushun in the process.Guess you could say it started muddy.Hey!You wuzn`t punnin`wuz you?There are two D70s,the dually PU and the cab`n`chassis(narrower).There are more 8-lug(16")out there than 6-lug.All GMs were 8-lug(&Dodge,Ford,and IH after the 60s).Anywho,Not a D60 or dual(Budd-type)front axle.Would have to have spacers to put mounting surface outboard.

Another thought,Could this be a K/30 that had a dual rear swapped-in sometime in the last 21 years.Ya think?C`mon back Chevy Farmer.Are you calling it a dually just because it had duals in the rear?Just trying to help keep it straight.

Wow I wish i would have paid more attention to the truck when I pulled the axles!! It was a flatbed, so it did not have a factory box with the fiberglass wheel opening flares. If it would have it would be easier for me to answer your questions because I know where the wheels on a dually should be in relation to the width of the factory dually box. The front wheels were in the correct position (width wise) with the cone shaped front dually rims.
They are both 8 lug axles and I took off the duals from the rear axle, so I am sure duals will bolt back on. Don't worry about muddying up the thread....... but thank you for keeping it on topic as well........ If anyone is serious about these I will unbolt covers drain fluid and count teeth..... Do you guys want more pictures of these??? If so please specify what. Thanks for the replies

Mark the drum & backing plate,then the yoke & differential housing.Spin the drum while counting how many turns the yoke is making in one turn of the drum.Take special notice of how far the yoke moves in it`s last,non-full turn.The available ratios are spaced enough to allow guesstimating ratio.Three and 3/4 is 3.73.A little past four is 4.10.A little over four and 1/2 is 4.56...You can assume the front`s the same since you took them off the same truck.

if it had (cone shaped dually wheels) on the front, then it must have had aftermarket spacers on the front hubs .have seen this slipped in on people before,some even change fender emblems to 30 or 35 series.
