small block to big block conversion questions
I am certain that this has been covered before, I cant be the only one who wants to do this.. BUT! the search is disabled so for now.. bear with me as I ask this question here
I have a 67 truck frame.. currently a small block chevy resides within the rails.. I just located a 454 from a 86 chevy pickup.. heres what I need to know.. if I decide to swap in the big block.. will I need new motor mounts? or are the big block mounts the same as the small block? also will the motor mounts get moved forward or rearward in the frame? Also. becuase the 454 I am looking at does not have exhaust manifolds i will need to deal with a manifold issue.. my question is.... are the big block manifolds for our trucks "special" to our trucks? or will any truck big block manifold fit? lastly.. my truck has been converted to power steering.. will I need to change the power steering pump to a big block style pump to make it all work? thanks in advance sawzall photos are at http://public.fotki.com/sawzallshop/..._its/for_sale/

You'll need everything from the big block truck that bolts to the engine, you will also need the 67-71 engine/frame stands and cushions, OR you can try to locate the 72 engine stands and use the 86 mounts that bolt to the engine block. With the install of the big block the engine/trans assy will be moved back 1''

Fun is increased by a substantial amount however, lettuce or duckets in your wallet will decrease at a faster rate as the fuel tank needs more feeding.
