insulation removal

I am trying to take the insulation out from under the dash, but i am having a hard time. Do you have to pry the grommets out of the insulation, or is there another way?

When and if you replace the underdash pads, you'll install new retainers. Just use a set of wire cutters( be careful to only cut the retainers) and snip them off. Take a small punch and hammer, and tap the piece out of the hole in the floor/firewall.
