Newbie front coil drop question

I'm looking for a 2 inch drop on my 72, been reading alot about it. My question is, cut one coil for 2 inch drop, what is considered one coil, one complete circle? to me that would only drop 3/4 of an inch. Could someone please clarify this for me.

Looks that way dont it. I thought the same thing when I did my sons coils. You lose about 1 inch from just cutting the spring.( 1 complete coil) but you also lose about another inch from the springs ability to support weight ( less coils less weight it will support ) Dont cut two no matter how tempting it looks unless you want that lower a-arm bushing running in to things. I will post some pictures tonight of my sons truck.

He's right. I took a round and half out of my fronts coils and they are ridiculously close to the ground. Make sure you use a cut off wheel and not a torch. Some guys say you can torch them if they're in water, but a cutting wheel zipped right through mine.

Edit: One coil would be from the beginning of the spring down one full revolution (directly underneath where the coil starts) It is also called a "round" if that helps any. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks alot guys.... that is exactly what I wanted to know. I was very unsure about that. I cut them last night with cut off wheel with no problems, and put everything back together. I guess I'll only know how she looks when I put the truck back together, I'm working on my rolling chasis. Thanks again!
