Unhappy 69's th400 won't shift out of 1st...wtf...

well just put a new intake on it...holley carb,,,, o yea lifters.....
airrade spacer......run's excellent.....just won't go
th400 stuck in first gear.....now what?

Is the vacuum for the tranny hooked up to the carb?

Could either be the vac modulator or the governor, thats what i'd check first...

Once my truck would not shift out of first. I had knocked the vac line loose.

Will the trans shift through the gears if you run through them manually (L1, L2, D) instead of starting just in Drive?

That would be my guess...vacuum line off at one end or the other, should shift up manually though.

Mine did that too, cept if you really pushed it,then it'd shift. I just knocked the modulator line off enough that it looked like it was on, but it wasn't :P

yep, if you shift it manually, and it shifts, then your modulator is either not hooked up...not getting proper vac...or inoperative.
