Progress pics of my '68 GMC Extend-a-cab
I'll start with a couple of before pics, keep in mind that this only came into the shop to have a 5.0 l 5 speed installed. I will post more pics as I come across the time too.

Sorry, I was going to post some progress pics today, but a simple 6 hour round trip parts run, turned into 13+ hours of driving through one of the worst snow storms of the winter. Too think that yesterday was so nice here I was going to pull the other vehicles out the storage shed, boy am I glad that I didn't. I will post the pics as promised when I get back to the shop. Have a great weekend.

Here are the only two pics that I have on this computer, (hard drive went for a trip). The first is of the cargo/brake light and the second is the original owner's manual that I scored off of ebay, thanks to CPNE.

Here are a couple of pics of the drivetrain, and one of the bottom side of the cab while it was still on the rotisserie. The last one is of my helper for the evening.

Here are a couple of pics, the first three are the way I bought it and the last two are of the way I destroyed a perfectly good driving 1992 Chevrolet 3500.

That looks awesome ! What rims are you going to use ? You are going to have to spend nearly every night up there to get it finished by june Eh ?
I would recomend not sandblasting the box. You will warp the sides for sure. Your dad should know that. Unless you mean Media blast that would be oky. I am going to a wrecking yard next saturday I will check for that emblem you need it's a 930 GMC right ? Any other small parts you need ? Later, Mario

72MARIO: Thanks for the compliments, I believe that I might have three 930 emblems now (thanks to longhorn71 for one). I don't believe that I am going to be sandblasting the box as I stated, probably media blasting or taking it down the road for some soda blasting.
YELLOW72CUSTOM: Thanks as well, I really wanted the modern day chassis and running gear because I plan on pulling the car trailer or our fifth wheel house trailer with this alot, the original drum brakes all the way around just wasn't going to cut it. |

72MARIO: These are the caps and rings that I am going to put on it, with the original painted rims. Thanks to 67-C_30 for locating them for me.

Well the guys at my parent's shop did a complete tune up and started running new gas lines today, should be only a few days until fire up, I HOPE. Also did a dry run with the '00 Silverado seats and got the hood stripped and in primer. At this rate I am confident that it will make its June 4 th deadline for being complete.

that ex-cab would look so much better if you made the small windows the same hight and style as the door windows.. but you do good work.

James, I think it's COOL! I can't wait to see the completed truck. Keep up the great work. After Super Chevy this weekend and trying to sell my Bel Air, I'm going to start working on my truck again. David

James, this is similar to what I have been planning. I have a few questions, if you don't mind. How much did you extend the cab? What did the windows on the extension come off of ? And how did you extend the roof? Looks great, by the way.
