crossmember??
What years use the same front crossmember? Could I take the crossmember out of a late model and put in to my 66? What years will work? I am planning on doing a cross member drop, and brake conversion, and drop spindles. Could I do this to eliminate the need for a brake conversion since I have to take it out any way?

To my understanding the '73-'87 cross member will work with your '66. Now if the i/2 ton is different than a 3/4-1ton I would not know. Hope this help's

It should fit fine except for two bolts. You will have to elongate the holes to get those two bolts to fit. Also IIRC you will probably have to do some bending to get the brake lines to hook up.

A buddy of mine put the whole front-end out of a '77 under a '66 and he told me everything bolted fine accept two rear bolts that he elongated the holes on. So Neonlarry is telling you the straight scoop !!!

After 1987, the control arms are bolted to brackets that are welded on the top of the framerails and the crossmember is actually a welded structure on the frame.
