Glove box lock cylinder
So, how the heck does the glove box lock cylinder and latch assembly come apart on a 78? I ordered a new cylinder and latch assembly from LMC because I was tired of hearing the old one rattle around.
Of all the things I have done to this truck you would think something as simple as replacing the glove box lock would be easy to figure out. ![]()

Never mind…..I figured it out.
The service manual I was using is for a 1987 and apparently the locks changed slightly. It appears the earlier ones have a tiny tab to push and the later ones you just pull up on the latch trigger until the cylinder pops out. I would have bet money the lock assemblies were the same from 73 – 87 (91 Blazer, Sub, cab and chassis). Learn something new everyday. ![]()
