*pic's* of 12 bolt rear disc brake install in my 71 Blazer

Finally finished my rear disc install on my 71 Blazer.I used the TSM kit.It took me about 2 days(taking my time)and went real smooth.
I am having trouble getting the air out of the system(see my post-CAN'T GET A HARD PEDAL) so the jury is out on any braking performance improvments as of yet.
Total cost was roughly $400.00.Prob. could have done it a little cheaper but I went with new parts instead of used ones.

oh man, that would make a great tech article for my website..

would you be interested in writing one up? you can basically just write in the instructions and i'll go through it and make it more readable

of course, you'll get full credit..

lemme know if you're interested as I'd like to do this swap myself and your pictures would be the perfect addition to a good writeup

Colin,no problem use the pic's if you want.Let me know what kind of description you want and I'll do my best to describe the steps of the install.

JHickson6,I'm from Winnipeg as well but at present working in California.I'll be in the "peg" in Aug. but not with my Blazer.
Glad you got something out of it.That's the main reason I document the mods I make.I know if I'm up in the air about doing a mod. and I see pic's of how some-one else did it it really helps me.

I give credit to a guy named Steve Chin,he's a member at coloradok5.com.He did the swap before me and did a excellant job writing it up,just no detailed pics.Still his article helped me GREATLY!!!

Hey Bobby,

Basically, whatever you can writeup will be fine. I've been looking for quite awhile for the details on this swap so any information that you have will be great

Maybe you have the part numbers of the parts that you used (seals, bearings, etc) or something. Any installation instructions oyu want to add and any tips that you might have that would be useful would be great, too

I'll see if I can work out some compensation for you because it'll be a fairly extensive article. I can probably fire you off a few bucks to write it up..

No not yet.I work nights all weekend so I'll get back to it on Monday.

ColinOpseth,once I get all the air out of the brake system and have it up and running I'll put together a small write-up describing the steps I went through during the install.I'll enclude any part Numbers I have as well.

Yes I did.I reworked the factory e-brake cables and was able to make things work.
1st I took the orig. e-brake cables off the truck.
2nd-I enlarged the holes on the e-brake cable braket (on the new Eldorado caliper)so the factory cable would fit(just filed it out a little)
3rd-I cut about 2" of the end of the orig. brake cable.
4th-removed the spring that's on the orig. e-brake cable.
5th-put a grade 8 nut over the cable end and with a BFH smushed it so it is clamped onto the end of the cable.
6th-re-installed old cables back into the truck.
7th-adjust the 2 nuts on the cable that goes to the brake lever in the truck to get the slack out of the cable.
8th- applied the e-brake about 6-10 times to set the brake pads on the rear disc brakes.

The e-brake works well.If your vehicle is lifted you will need longer e-brake cables.
I didn't take pic's of me doing this but if anyone needs pic's I'll go and take pic's of whatever you need.

The rotor are about 11" across.the rotor are just the ones used on the front disc brakes.Six new 7/16 holes are drilled in them to fit the rear axle.
The Calipers are from a 84 Cadillac Eldorado.
