Hey out there, My tank, in the cab, had a gas guage that didn't work. Turns out the float was filled, and sank to empty. I pulled it off, cleaned it out, soldered up the holes, and it leaked again. Have given up on trying to fix it for now, and was wondering what alternatives to the stock float can be had (paul) or where I could get a replacement float without the entire sending unit.

I have a good, stock float from a blazer sender. You can have it for $3.50 priority mail. Not sure if blazer and truck floats are the same, never had a truck sending unit out. Email me.

We always have these in stock, you may want to examine thwe o-ring and make sure its not cracking or brittle from age, and if a EEC tank make sure all vacuum lines are crack free. When reinstalling sender apply white grease to seal, this aids in sealing and helps the lock ring to rotate into position easily when reinstalling without damage to o-ring seal.

I have not looked at the set up in over a year, but would you be able to put a cork on there as a float?

I remember several people used wine corks. I think you'd want a real cork one, not the new plastic ones though.

ive got the same problem again the float fills up /w gas and sinks to empty. this is the sencond flaot i have put in. everytime one gets put in to squeeze it in i think it develops a minute crack that slowly fill up over time. so i want to go to something diiferent, does anybody have any feedback on using a a wine cork or plastic cork or even maybe a bobber? i dotn knwo what would hold up to the gas?
