I was told that to get the cylinder out you insert the key and then poke a small wire so something like that it one of the two holes and then the cylinder will pop out. I trie this with my 65 but it would not work. maybe you will have better luck, as mine was very worn out.

Correct, with the key inserted and turned to the on position....insert the paper clip and then turn the key counter clockwise to remove the cylinder. (Be sure the battery is disconnected)

If you have some liquid graphite it would help lube the lock.

In Section 6Y-51 of the manual, it states "Remove lock cylinder by positioning switch in LOCK position & insert wire in small hole in cylinder face. Push in on wire to depress plunger & continue to turn key counterclockwise until lock cylinder can be removed." What they do not tell you is which hole to stick in the wire. It's the UPPER hole. It's behind that hole that the plunger is located. I use a narrow sharp awl, rather than a piece of wire. Then, it actually comes out! They sure make it difficult.

Also when reinstalling the key cylinder, have the key in it, and put it back into the hole, and turn right like you are trying to start the engine, and it will automatically lock itself. I just did this on mine last week.

It would not have mattered what I used as the locking mechanism had stuck from old age or lack of lubrication. A smal wire like a paper clip worked on the one I replaced it with . Thank you very much.
