Hey everyone. I haven't been posting much for quite a while, been really busy with finishing up college, working, etc. I just got done repainting my truck again. I got tired of the old paint job and I had wore through the clear in a couple places from polishing it. Decided to go with a drastic change, from GM "Bronzemist" grey to Ford "Performance Red". It looks like a whole different truck now. I'm going to attach a few photos, one of what it looked like before, one during the bodywork stage, and a couple of after I got done shooting it. Enjoy and feel free to ask any questions. I still need to wetsand and buff the clear.

Now the flames was the original paint correct?

Yes, the one with flames was the original.... I screwed up the order of posting the pics sorry. I painted the truck about 4 years ago, trust me, that picture makes the truck look like a show truck. It was pretty clean, but not up to my high standards.

Looks good very good. Only one problem FORD performance orange....why are ford and performance linked together. we all know thats not true.

I always associate Furd with Blue,wonder why?

Looks good. You won't miss that red for sure! Did you paint your tonneau red also or is that a soft cover?

It's a soft vinyl tonneau cover....... only reason I have it is to keep the elements off the oak bed wood, especially up here in wet northern california.

Dupont Nason base/clear. I cheaped out this time on the paint, the before pic I used Dupont ChromaBase and ChromaPremier clear. I've seen other Nason jobs that have been neglected/aged and the paint looked fine. I baby my truck so much anyway it made sense for me to go this way. One thing I'll pass along, is that the Nason base does take more coats to achieve hiding. I primed the truck again, not shown in my pics, in grey PPG K36 primer but didn't do the jambs. It took 4-5 coats to completely hide the jambs which was the bronzemist color. That being said, it sprayed really good and I was definitely impressed with its value ..... red is expensive in terms of auto paint, I think I paid somewhere between $150-200 for a gallon of the base color and associated reducer and activator.

I'm partial to performance red

Here's the mustang I sold a couple of years ago. Although it wasn't called Performance red in 95 the paint code and color are the same. Code "ES" I love how the red turns into an orange or a dark red like in the picture below under different lighting. Too bad I was Tboned by a Mercury Topaz.

Please get some more shots of the truck in different lighting situations.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I agree, that color is tricky, sometimes it looks red and sometimes it looks orange. I'll get some more pictures soon, its been raining for the past day and a half

That looks Killer. I love it.

I just had my 67 sprayed in GM Torch Red. I agree with you on sometimes it's red others times it's orangeeee. Red is soooo Pricey. My material was $1800.00 CDN. for 3 gallons of base and clear. That was below shop cost. I used the 8500 clear and the ChromaBase for the red. We did inside and outside of the cab and box under the hood innerfenders and firewall. I used a medium red primer from Sherwin Wiliams. We were able to get away with 2 coats of base and 3 clear because I am going to wetsand and polish it.

I think I thread jacked you sorry.
