Front locker hub question
May be a dumb question but I am curiois. When you have manual locking hubs what happens if you had them locked but the transfer case was in 2 wd? Would it wear or mess up anything?

No. I have a 86 k5 blazer and I put a set of Warn hubs on it. I e-mailed Warn about having them locked all the time durning the winter and would it hurt the drivetrain. They said it would not hurt anything except the gas mileage. I ran them all winter like that and nothing happened but the gas mileage did suffer.

blaserman is right. basically, it makes everything inside the front axle spin, and the front driveshaft and front output of the transfer case spins, but it is from the road and not from the engine. I, too, did it in winter when my truck was actually running.

I heard it was bad to go above like 30-40 MPH with them locked in but it might be just hearsay bs. I too did have mine locked in for a couple weeks during the winter when it was really icy.

I ran mine up to and over 70mph and did not have any problems, and that was on a daily basics. Bakc and forth from and to work 6 days a week. Like I said prior I contacted Warn on this.

A lot of the newer Jeeps and Dodges are built with a part time case and no lockouts from the factory. They eliminated the center axle disconnect a few years ago. Running like that will not hurt a thing.

Actually, it's a good idea to lock 'em in once in a while if you drive mostly on the street. Keeps the oil circulated and warms it up to evaporate moisture that collects inside things.
