I just picked up a blazer 4x4 in great shape. With a little work and new drivetrain it will make a nice one.

That looks to be a good foundation to start from. Nice find.
Hard to believe we use front shackels like those on the front.

Similar rust, what's the best method to tackle it?
Bisquik65,
I just spotted the spring post of your latest Blazer (April '05). My K5 has a solid body (just need to replace the rocker boxes and rocker panels), but the hood and front fenders have simliar surface rust as in the photos of yours. I have tried to DA sand these areas down to the metal, but some of the areas are slightly pitted (underside of panels are in excellent shape so rust hasn't eatten through). Any suggestions on what to do to get rid of the rust and make it usable for painting? I am thinking I will need to take it down as much as possible (would sandblasting or acid dipping work better than DA sanding?) and then filling the pitted area with some light filler and sanding smooth. The DAing I've done so far just seems in vein. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Really glad to be out of London today! God bless America! Last edited by 69stepside4x4; 07-08-2005 at 11:56 AM. |
