T5 Tranny question

I'm not sure where I should post this question, but maybe you guys can help. I recently bought a 84 S-15 that has a 4 speed manual. 2.8L V6.

I was wondering if a T5 from a Jimmy or Blazer would be a pretty easy swap. The truck is 2wd, would I have to find a 2wd Jimmy or Blazer? Those are rare here in Colorado.

OK, so I must have posted this in the wrong area, where would be the best place to ask this question?

I don't know that there are a lot of S-truck people on this board. I would guess that a later T-5 will work. It should work from either a pickup or Blazer/Jimmy, but it will indeed have to be 2wd.

The 5 speed was an option on the trucks, but was standard on the Blazer and Jimmy, so most of the trucks don't have it. I guess I will go down to the Pick-and-Pull and look around. I just got this little truck, and it runs great, but it sure would be nice to have the 5 speed as most of my driving is highway. Thanks for the reply.

So long as the T5 is from a 83-88(?) S-series 2wd with a 4-banger or 2.8L it should bolt right in. (If you go too new, it won't have the mechanical speedo drive).

Find out if your 4-speed has the removable bellhousing. If it does, you only need the T5 trans, if not, you need the T5 bellhousing too.

Driveshaft may be different... not sure. You can play it safe and get your T5 from the same wheelbase truck as you have now.

Thanks, I'll need the bell housing. Now I just have to find a truck with the right tranny. Most had the 4 speed. Blazers and Jimmys had the 5 speed, but almost all of them in Colorado are 4wd. Well, no hurry, this is one of those projects that is not urgent.
