Which valve cover for inline 6?

Can't seem to find the info using search feature.

I want to get a polished aluminum valve cover for my 250 inline 6. I have looked at my Jegs catalog and all I see is SB and BB valve covers - which fits the L6 engine for our trucks? Or is there a special one I need to get?

If anyone has a suggestion for a good aluminum valve cover, anodized or polished (not painted!), please post a link. I really want to finish dressing up my engine so I can move onto other projects

TIA

Clifford makes a cast aluminum one for the Chevy 6 cylinder engine but it's a black wrinkle finish. I just finished painting mine orange . I don't know if anyone makes a polished aluminum one. http://www.cliffordperformance.com/ Chris

I am still sitting on a chrome I-6 valve cover that was on my original engine. It is wrapped up in the bottom of my tool box awaiting a new home. I'll make you a great deal on it if you might be interrested. Up until three weeks ago, I even still have a gasket that was sealed in the packaging for it.

Let me know,

Dean

I was talking to Ed @ MotherTruckers and he was saying to avoid the chrome covers, something about they never quite fit right, are prone to leaks and rust. This is the only reason I was really looking for aluminum. He also mentioned going with the Offy valve cover, I was just set back by the price...That's pretty damned expensive!

I don't understand ... what's conflicting about those statements?

Looking for a polished or anodzied aluminum cover. I was in the process of going with chrome and was told to avoid chrome and go aluminum (for fitment/rusting reasons).

I know Offenhauser makes a good one, I was just hoping to find something a little less expensive.

I think your going to be hard pressed to find anything other than the Offy vs. Chrome vs. Stock.

Besides...Offy has the matching side covers too

What, you don't want a chrome one like I've got on mine, and have it leak like mine does? LOL. Mine was on the 250 when I got hte truck, which means it sat for 5 years, so hopefully a new gasket will fix it. If not, I may be looking at the Offy one also.

If you have any boat repair shops in your area check them out,the small ones that have been around a while are your best bet. Ask for a valve cover for a 216 mercruiser. It is finned aluminum but painted black. I stripped mine and put POR-15 chevy orange on it. I gave 30.00 bucks for the last one I got. Bryan
