Please Help I.d. Rare?? Truck Accessory

i picked up a number of these at a swap meet today and was wondering if anyone knows the vintage of these when they were available. they're NOS with boxes the boxes have been beatup as you can see ,just wondering what a fair market value would be??
the pasrt #is 986108 it also says on the box "group 5.872"

Looks like something you would put under the tires for traction.

judging by the style of the box, I'd hazard a guess at 64-68ish?
