Question custom engine badges

last week i saw a 69 camaro with a custom engine badge on the front fender that read "383". it looked factory. not rigged at all. i thought this was neat, and wondered if anybody here knows if there is somebody makeing custom engine id fender badges? like the chrome block type that go under the side marker lights, with different cubic inch sizes on them, "402","427",ect....or the older crossedflag style emblems with newer engine numbers, ....i have looked for some but no luck i am suprised that i haven't seen anybody makeing these.. looking for "402" thanks

I have seen some at swap meets but never got very interested in them. What would be really cool is to just have it painted on like the chrome trim is done on some custom cars. I really like that and it doesn't ding, fall off or collect dust and pine needles behind it...LOL!

Those could be from a dodge. My cousin has two 383 badges on his 66 charger that look like the chevy and ford ones.

That would be cool. After all, they do make 454 original-looking badges.I have the 402(400)badges on my truck with a small block 400.It`s more right then factory.

hey BowTieMan the "383" i saw was exactly like the "350" or "396" numbers on a stock 69 camaro. they sat right at the edge of the front fender by the headlight. you know block type with the little linking wires between them.......bowtie67 that is a cool look! wouldn't mind that if i could get a "402" on top!

There is a vender at Carlisle swap meets that sells badges. My friend and I were looking for 402 badges for our trucks. This guy said his supplier would make anything we wanted, but we had to buy 20 sets. Can't remember the price, but it was the same as his other badges he had.

trim parts numbers

check out www.trimparts.com they sell individual numbers chrome with black or white inset.
I have been wanting to make a set of 406 emblems for my 71 C-10.
they are nice but not cheap. I want to mill out the 350 and insert the new 406 numbers, Would definetly look trick.

The TrimParts numbers aren`t right for our badges, though. They should make the smooth chrome ones.Or,just start making the common non original ones like thet already do with the 8 454 ones.I want 383!

I say!
I was wondering what the bore and stroke would be on a 666. I'll do a little math and see. That might be an interesting motor to build.

Ok, I did a little math. 4.9954 bore by 4.25 stroke would make a 666.02 cubic inch. 5 bore by 4.25 stroke would make 667.25, which would be close enough.
Olds had a block with a 4.25 stroke, but only a 4.1something bore. So obviously you'd have to go with a custom block.
Either that or play with the stroke some more.
Some other combos.
4.854 bore by 4.5 stroke.
4.725 bore by 4.75 stroke.
4.606 bore by 5 stroke.

Just some food for thought for ya'. I honestly don't know if any of those would work, nor how much power they would make. I'll leave that up to other people to figure out. Though all of those combos do make 666 cubic inches.

I was checking out a few crate engine sites and there are 632 merlin blocks. They have the 4.75 stroke already, but only a 4.6 bore.
So I do believe it is very possible.
I've heard of bigger motors than 632, so I bet it would just take destroking one of those.
This might be just the motor for my 70 chevelle. I can see it now, jet black paint job with black tinted windows, side pipes, and a 666 under the hood.
