Tom, truck looks sweet...thanks for sharing the pics.
 Question, why is the engine and some of the external accessories so tight to the frame? All of my small block powered 73-80's had more clearance than that. Is this a 81+ thing?

I agree the truck looks good.
bigblock73: My '81 doesn't have those clearance issues. I used a set of Edelbrock headers, that probably has something to do with it. clearance issue
the truck is a 85 and the engine is a summit crate 350, the headers are hedman shorties. I sand blasted them, baked them, cleaned with alcohol, sprayed with high temp paint and baked again. the clearance issue is on the drivers side next to the frame. I welded on the collector flange and the exhaust pipe rubbed the frame....cut off 1/4" to fit.
the cleaner in the can is harley polish. kinda of a quick shine product. put enough of it on and it will keep anything clean forever.

how much do those transmission coolers cost and are they hard to install? would that be a bad idea on a 4x4?

trans cooler
bought it from summitt, under $75. you can run the lines anywhere and if running offroad I would not want dirt or rocks to hit it

For the oil leak check the rear intake seal, distributor seal, and passenger side valve cover gasket.

I also have a new motor that has oil dripping off of the starter bolt. (That is the only place it drips off of). I have run my hands all over the rear engine area and found no oil to speak of other than this bolt getting wet. I haven't yet found it. I have a lift and I have put the truck up on it and run it to look for oil leaks. Just bugs the hell out of a guy...

Great looking truck. Looks like you had a few problem (I always do), but sounds like you did a nice job taking care of them. Take time to pat yourself on the back, you did a great job.

need to install eletric fans so I can run the a/c. to detail the a/c I mean greened the hoses, polished the aluminum and applied lots of armor all to the hoses. plenty of zip ties. still need some replacement vents.
